Airtel – Wynk Movies

Airtel TV is one of the main service providers for direct satellite streaming in India.

Wynk Movies offers five movie channels, including Eros Now, HOOQ, Sony LIV, YouTube and Dailymotion. It allows user to enjoy 1000+ Bollywood movies, TV series and India’s top shows from all these channels with just one app.

Plan & Envision

Review the current app UIUX design, and provide an in-depth analysis with some suggestions to improve the user experiences
Run a discovery workshop to define and share a product vision within a group of stakeholders.

In this 2.5 days on site workshop at Airtel office in India, we have successfully define the product goals and overall design vision and plan. And it also gave all the stakeholders a bigger sense of ownership in the decision making process.

Challenges

One of the main issues from their previous app is the cluttered design in Home Page.
It was hard to realise that there are different brands when scrolling the page. Also there are lack of negative space as Section title, Free/Premium tag, Block, Play icon…etc are all over the same cover.

Solution

Orientate the user
– Create colour zones for each provider
– Adding white space in between the sections
– Write titles more descriptive to orientate user
– Improving the scrolling behaviour and animation

Reduce number of elements on screen
– Reduce number of movies per screen increasing their size.
– Combine Lock, Unlock, Free and Play buttons/tags into one button (Available/Not available)
